Description

Essay writing isn't fun.

This is Sam, Charlie and Patrick from my favourite book of all time, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.
I know I love Harry Potter, it is my childhood and my adolescence. But Perks is my favourite book.

I adore Charlie. And I thought I'd draw a little something to commemorate this phenomenal book before Hollywood swoops down, chews it up and spits it back out in a pile of money-driven garbage.
As soon as I read it I knew. This book should never, ever be made into a film.
I'm not talking about the cast, though I think they've chosen very poorly. I talking about the book itself being too emotionally driven, no film could ever do it justice.

But no, in Hollywood book integrity is not safe. And now this beautiful piece of literature is about to be ruined. It makes me sad.

I haven't quite decided how I want them to look yet. It's early days in the doodling of these characters. I didn't draw their feet because I ran out of room on the page. Why do I insist on drawing near the bottom of the page.

For anyone having trouble reading my scrawl:

'And in that moment, I swear we were infinite'

Favourite quote. End of.

So, it's been 11 years since you've made the statement of not wanting to see a film adaptation of the book. It's been 9 years the film adaptation has come out, adapted to the screen and directed by the author himself. Have you kept true to your statement about not ever seeing the film, or have you checked it out to see if it meets your hopes or crashes into your disappointments for such an adaptation? I'm just curious to know, and what you feel about the film adaptation.
