At first I started to draw this really slowly in order to get the background all detailed and correctly proportioned. But like everything else I draw I ended up getting bored and rushing it so the background is not all correctly proportioned, there is no clear 'vanishing point' and the details are not all relevant or clear. Doesn't help that I had to double scan it and so there is an ugly crease down the centre of the page which has messed up the shading when I altered the contrast levels. C'est la vie.
I complain a lot...
This is a part in Deathly Hallows that I think is lovely, and it truly demonstrates the personalities of our favourite characters. It is taken from the chapter The Tale of Three Brothers, (as you can probably guess from the title), when the trio are in Xenophilius Lovegood's house.
"I think you're right," she told him. "It's just a morality tale, it's obvious which gift is best, which one you'd choose –" The three of them spoke at the same time: Hermione said, "the Cloak," Ron said, "the wand," and Harry said, "the stone." They looked at each other, half surprised, half amused.
Love the picture, and I have to ask, how do you combine multiple scans? I have a large drawing I am rather proud of, but it's too big for my scanner. When I read your description, you said you had to double scan it. Please help me, I am technologically inept and no one else I have asked can help.
its weird but, i'm watching this scene right now...exactly when i found this...
and yes, this scene is really touching...
Gosh, I need practice backgrounds/perspective but I just get scared that it'll turn out badly so I end up not doing anything detailed like this.
